Grapefruit Rosemary Water
Do you remember that skit from Sesame Street called “Agua”? The one where Luis is crawling around, dying of thirst, asking for water in Spanish? You can hear the wind blowing like he’s supposedly in a dessert and finally he’s put out of his misery when it starts to rain. Out of nowhere he pulls out a glass, lets it fill with rain water and quenches his thirst. That skit will forever be ingrained in my memory and is usually the first thing that comes to mind when I am thirsty for water. (For anyone younger than 30-35 years old reading this, you probably have no idea what I’m talking about)
It can be hard to drink the recommended amount of water everyday because it’s kind of boring and has no flavor. Because of this I’m always experimenting with different combinations of fruits and herbs to keep it fresh and new. I think it’s easier and less expensive to use fresh produce to flavor water than those pre-made packets you find in the soda aisle. Besides that, it taste delicious, it’s refreshing and it’s just got to be so much better for us!
I do my best every day to stay hydrated and this is a great, natural way to do just that. Naturally flavored water gives you kind of a “double whammy” so to speak. Not only do you get the water your body needs but you are also helping to detox your body. When my body is hydrated I have more focus, I’m not fatigued and my skin looks so much better. Seriously, I can see my puffy eyes fade and I just feel like I look younger. It’s amazing what water can do for our bodies!
It’s so important to get into the habit of drinking more water. Prepare this before you go to bed and you’ll wake up with a cold, refreshing way to start the day. Every single cell of our bodies depend on water to function properly. Don’t starve your cells…feed them with this delicious grapefruit rosemary water concoction!
