A bowl of homemade granola and yogurt.

Learn how to make homemade granola that tastes amazing and costs a fraction of the granola you buy at the store.

This breakfast and snack recipe is perfect for families on budget that want to make healthy meals!

Granola and fresh blueberries in a bowl with yogurt.

Busy moms and dads need time-saving recipes that they can feel good about serving their families.

Just like our instant pot egg white bites and slow cooker oatmeal, this homemade granola can be made ahead of time and served throughout the week.

Having a batch or two of homemade granola in your pantry will keep mornings running as smooth as possible.

Just top a bowl of yogurt with a handful of granola and some berries, and breakfast is served!

    Ingredients needed

    • rolled oats
    • nuts
    • unsweetened shredded coconut
    • honey
    • vanilla extract
    • coconut oil
    • light brown sugar
    • salt
    • cinnamon
    • dried fruit

    How to make it

Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicon baking mat.

In a large bowl, toss all of the dry ingredients together EXCEPT for the dried fruit. (You'll add that after the granola has baked and cooled.)

Mix the wet ingredients in a small bowl and pour over the dry ingredients. Use a spatula to mix the two together.

Spread the mixture evenly on the parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Bake the granola for 30 minutes, stirring the mixture half way through the baking time.

Remove from oven and let cool completely before breaking into pieces and adding the dried fruit.

Baked granola on a baking sheet with dried cranberries on the side.

    How to store it

Transfer the cooled granola to an airtight container and store it at room temperature for up to 3 weeks. It's best stored in a cool, dark area such as a pantry.

Because the granola stores for so long, I recommend making a double batch!

    Tips and notes

Make sure you don't add the dried fruit before baking as they will become very hard and you'll be unable to eat it.

If you are looking to keep this recipe gluten free, you'll need to make sure to check the rolled oats packaging for a "gluten free" label.

The coconut oil can be replaced with olive oil or avocado oil if needed.
