Could these Cookie Monster Oreo Balls be any cuter?? These were a huge hit with my kids!
They are perfect to make for a birthday party or Halloween party, so ... Let's get this party started!
What you will need to make these decorated Oreo balls
You're going to love how simple the ingredients are!
- Oreo cookies
- Cream cheese
- Bright blue candy melts
- Candy eyeballs
- Mini chocolate chip cookies
Step by step instructions
Prepare the Oreo balls.
- Put an entire package of Oreos into a food processor and pulse until it has come to a fine consistency.
- Throw in a room temperature, 8 oz. block of cream cheese and mix until totally combined. (You can also use a hand held mixer to combine the cookies and cream cheese.)
- Use a small cookie scoop to create 24 balls. (They are going to look more like mounds than balls.)
- Place the balls on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and place the sheet it in the freezer to set up.
Decorate the Oreo balls.
- Measure out ½ cup of the candy melts and grated them with a cheese grater to create the blue sprinkles for the cookie monster "fur". Grate it into a small bowl and set it aside until you're ready to assemble.
- Cut mini chocolate chip cookies in half to stick into one side of each Oreo ball.
- Melt the remaining candy melts according to package directions.
- Working quickly, dip an Oreo ball into the melted chocolate using a dipping tool or a fork.
- Once the ball is fully coated, sprinkle with the grated candy melts, place the eyeballs on top and stick the chocolate chip cookie under the eyes. The melted candy will start to harden and will hold the chocolate chip cookie in place.
- Place them back onto a parchment lined baking sheet to set completely.
Keep them stored in an airtight container, in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve them, up to 4 days.

Ingredients
- 1 package of Oreo cookies (36 count)
- 8 oz. cream cheese (room temperature)
- 16 oz. dark blue candy melts
- 48 candy eyeballs
- 12 mini chocolate chip cookies cut in half
Instructions
- Place the Oreos into a food processor and pulse until it has come to a fine consistency. Add the cream cheese and mix until it's totally combined. Use a small cookie scoop to create 24 balls.
- Place the balls on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and stick it in the freezer to set up. (The balls are much easier to dip if they are frozen. Don't worry if the balls are not perfectly round. Once you start to decorate that won't matter.)
- Take ½ cup of the candy melts and grated them with a cheese grater to create the blue sprinkles for the cookie monster "fur". Just grate it into a small bowl and set it aside until you're ready to assemble.
- Melt the remaining candy melts according to package directions. Working quickly, dip an Oreo ball into the melted chocolate using a dipping tool or a fork.
Keep them stored in an airtight container, in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve them.

Awesome! Just curious... can you make these ahead of time and then freeze them?
Amy says
Hi Leslie, I believe you can freeze them but I've never tried to freeze them decorated like these are. I would make the balls and freeze them undecorated and then decorate them after they've thawed out.
