Looking for a new potluck recipe? Calico Beans are the easiest thing to make and everyone will be asking for more!
If you’ve never tried Calico Beans, you’ve got to make this recipe. It is one of the easiest meals I’ve ever made!
This recipe is from one of my readers Laura Wamsley. This is a dish that she brings to potluck regularly and people are always asking for the recipe.
One of the things I love about Calico Beans is that you cook them in the slow cooker. Anytime I can use a crock-pot to make dinner, I’m doing it!
The ground meat and bacon do have to be browned first but it only takes a few minutes and it is well worth it in the end.
I decided to serve them with cornbread to offset the sweetness and it was perfect!
The coarse texture of the cornbread mixed with the creamy texture of the beans and smokey flavor of the bacon was divine.
The next day I changed it up a little and spooned it over hot-dogs for lunch. Amazing!
